Parent Coaching & Consultation

Topics I Support

I specialize in providing support to parents of children from newborns to teenagers. Many concerns tend to peak in the toddler and younger elementary school years and I can assist with a variety of challenges, including:

  • Children with Big Emotions (Tantrums): Addressing and navigating the emotional challenges that children often face, including tantrums.

  • Supporting Traumatic or Major Transitions such as Divorce: Providing guidance and assistance for families going through significant life changes.

  • Parental Stress/Burnout: Offering support and coping strategies for parents experiencing stress and burnout.

  • Bonding with Your Infant or Young Child: Providing assistance in building strong bonds between parents and their infants or young children.

  • General Consultation: if you are unsure of the therapeutic avenue your family needs, I can provide guidance and consultation for parents who are experiencing uncertainty about what therapies may benefit their family.

My Training & Approach

I am an attachment-oriented depth therapist, also recognized as an Infant Mental Health Specialist and an endorsement candidate in the state of California.

Training Background: With a master’s degree in clinical psychology and extensive experience as a licensed psychotherapist, I have further honed my skills through a 15-month training as a Fellow in the UC Davis / Napa-Parent Infant Mental Health Fellowship. I have trained with distinguished leaders in the field such as Dr. Bruce Perry and Deb Dana, LCSW.

Theoretical Approach: My approach is relational and attachment-oriented. I emphasize the vital connection between parents and their children, recognizing the significance of attachment theory and early childhood development. I do not adopt a traditional behaviorist perspective, rather I consider a child’s behaviors within the broader context.

How Does It Work?

I initiate the process with an in-depth session exclusively for parents. Subsequently, I may conduct observations of the child, tailored to the specific concerns being addressed. This information-gathering stage typically spans 2 to 6 sessions, each lasting 50 minutes. Following this, we collaboratively develop a plan to help your family navigate challenges more effectively.

Ongoing coaching sessions occur every other week, incorporating a mix of child and parental involvement. Sessions can take place online, in your home (within 25 miles of Pacifica, CA), or in my office in San Francisco.

Fees

As I introduce this new service to my practice, fees are based on a sliding scale corresponding to your income, ranging from $25 to $100 per session. In some cases, pro-bono services may be available.
